The Dancewear Center Story
Dancewear was established in 1984 by Carolyn Vendetti. Prior to opening Dancewear Carolyn was the owner and operator of her own beauty salon Styles by Carolyn. Carolyn left the beauty industry to raise her two children.
After a few years she wanted to get back into business for herself. Her sister who owned a dance studio suggested to her to open a retail dance store. Four months later Carolyn opened Dancewear Center. At the beginning the store was small, but as time went on she expanded into the rental space next door. As her business grew she needed more room for her shoe inventory and children’s attire. To date Dancewear has been opened for 33 years.
Throughout the years there have been many changes to shoe types and styles. In the 80’s many of the adult character shoes did not come with taps. Dancewear would have to order the taps and her father would put them on. Not until the mid to late 90’s did major companies start manufacturing the shoes with the taps on.
